Scholarship recipient, Katelyn Patterson, was presented a check for the first installment of her scholarship that was awarded by the members of Jerusalem 9 thanks to the kind donations from members that left money in their will for the lodge to award scholarships from the interest earned.
You can make a difference in the lives of others as well. Please consider a monetary donation for the scholarship or building fund of your lodge.

The three lodges in Henderson County, Jerusalem 9, Henderson 958, & Corydon 799, teamed up to purchase a boy’s & girl’s bicycle to present to every elementary, middle school, and high school in the Henderson County Board of Education district. Eleven schools with a total of 22 bicycles.
Brother Andrew “Andy” Carr, current master of Henderson 958, spearheaded the program, promoted it to the three lodges and worked tirelessly to obtain the best deal possible for the bicycles. He also worked with brother Ty Rideout, owner of Abba Promotions, to have signs made up to place on the bicycles.
Several brothers committed to donating money toward this program and the three lodges will help cover the additional cost.
The goal was to have all the bicycles in each school so that when classes start on August 10th the students will see them every day to give them incentive to stay in school. This goal was achieved. Those students that have perfect attendance through April will have their name placed in a drawing with a boy & girl winner at each school. Along with the bicycles, we will also be providing them with a helmet or a voucher to get a helmet to help promote safety.
This bicycle program was suggested by our current Deputy Grand Master, Cloyd Bumgardner. It is our understanding that we are the first group to do this on a mass scale.
On Sunday September 14th, members of Jerusalem 9 traveled to Frankfort KY to the home of our brother, Retired Chief Justice, Honorable John S. Palmore. Meeting us at his home was the Most Worshipful Grand Master of Kentucky, Rick Nation.
While there we presented him with his 75 year service pin to our great fraternity, a Veteran’s pin for his service to our country, and MWGM presented him with his personal pin. Brother Palmore’s wife, Carol, pinned his 75 year pin on him.
We stayed for a while and he reminisced about the days he lived and worked in Henderson. He told some interesting tales that made us all chuckle. It was a great day in masonry to meet a man who had done so much for his country, the laws in our state and our fraternity.
On June 23, 2014 Jerusalem Lodge #9 added two new members to this great organization. Worshipful Master Jim DeArmond conferred the degree of Entered Apprentice upon Christian Thurby and Dion Waldner. It was a special evening for two existing members of Jerusalem 9, as Christian Thurby is a third generation mason of this lodge. The new members were excited to begin their journey in masonry and looked forward to their memory work.
After some time as an EA, John Robert Hartsburg was passed to the degree of Fellowcraft on the evening of April 14th. The first part of the degree was conferred by acting master Matt McConnell. The second part was conferred by brother Steve Keach. John was excited to be passed on and looked forward to learning his work.
We are selling freshly smoked hams on Saturday, April 19th for $40 with pick up between 11am and 1pm at the lodge. This is the day before Easter, so you need not worry anymore about from where you’re getting your Easter ham. These are about 9 pound Kentucky legend hams that will be smoked that morning and, if needed, can be sliced upon your request. If you or someone you know wants a ham, contact Bro Rob Toerne for a ticket, or respond here and I will take care of business. Also, if you would like to help that morning, we will be starting early; so come to the lodge and help or enjoy the company.
On Monday March 10th, Jerusalem lodge added a new member to our great organization. Douglas Englebright was initiated as Entered Apprentice. The degree was conferred by Worshipful Master Jim DeArmond. The newly initiated brother was happy and excited to begin his work and was looking forward to helping the lodge and the community. We also had a long-time EA, John Hartsburg, give his proficiency, so he will be receiving his Fellowcraft degree at the upcoming March 24th meeting.
On Monday, December 30th Jerusalem lodge installed the new officers for the year of 2014. Outgoing master Joe Hall gave many brothers certificates of appreciation and also presented brother Buck Gish with the Mason of the Year award for his ongoing dedication to the lodge and our fine institution. Brother Ed “Doc” Anderson performed the installations impeccably to the astonishment of all who attended. The officers for 2014 are as follows:
On Saturday, December 14th Jerusalem lodge held its Christmas party. Many brothers, their wives, children, and the women from the WARM center were in attendance. A wonderful meal was served and Christmas carols were sung. Santa even made an appearance and took requests from the children for their Christmas wishes.
On October 28, Jerusalem Lodge celebrated another past master night and awarded some members with their pins. There were many brothers and wives in attendance, including some brothers from Michigan. Many brothers who received pins shared their views on the fraternity. Click here for more pictures.
